Notes on setting up StarNet for your system: o Your system must be able to automatically run the BBS upon booting of the hard drive. This is rather simple to do, provided that you don't have some special set-up already functioning upon boot. The value of peek location 36864 determines whether the board will run, or whether the BASIC program will run. This means that your STARTUP program must check the value in this location to determine what to do. If it is NOT equal to 98, it can run the BBS. If it is equal to 98, it must run the BASIC program for StarNet. o You will need the external file called "XBOOT" on your data drive. o Be sure your SSC is set at 1200 baud by setting the dip switches accordingly. 1200 baud is used to lessen noise and to make sure the modem doesn't miss any commands sent to it. If your modem still misses commands at 1200 baud, you can do one of two things. Set the dip switches on the SSC to 300 baud (this may not work), or put a line in that says SPEED=50 and another line in later that says SPEED=255. o Be sure the slot location of your modem corresponds to the PR#'s and IN#'s of the BASIC program. o Be sure the PEEK location for detection of carrier is the correct location, and be sure it checks against the correct peek value for carrier detection. o Look over your segs and the BASIC program.
